History

Pokhara Milk supply Scheme (PMSS) was established as in 1977 AD by Dairy Development Corporation (DDC), an undertaking of Government of Nepal. The dairy plant of the PMSS came into operation in 1980 AD in Pokhara a tourist city located at western part of the country with the support from Danish Government, under the Turnkey Project. Under the process for privatization by the government in 1991 AD, Sujal Dairy Pvt ltd made a strong pitch for the acquisition of PMSS. Bidding process went almost one year. Finally after a long wait, Sujal dairy was awarded the scheme against three strong bidders. Once the Company acquired the business in January 2005, it totally updated the working business modules in terms of effective collection of milk, processing and marketing of the products. Furthermore company invested heavily on the introduction of world class technologies, production facilities and marketing of its products. Company have offered “Safal” brand name to all its products. In no time it has become household name in Pokhara and peripheral area. Now the company is a full-fledged independently operated  company that produces different categories of milk, cuisine line milk products, SMP & Dairy Whitener, sweets, ice-creams, yogurt, Ghee, cheese etc. the company have strong marketing networks in pokhara market of more than 1200 milk selling outlets, 40 milk collection centers where more than 20,000 farmers are directly involved.
